This Privacy Policy explains how Tabata Core (Android package com.tabatacore.app) handles information when you install or use the app from Google Play. It applies wherever the app is listed, including in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and other countries.
Tabata Core is published by the individual developer of the app (the “we”, “us”, or “developer”). We do not operate user accounts or our own servers for storing your workouts.

Tabata Core is a local fullscreen timer for Tabata/HIIT workouts and optional reaction-style training, sold on Google Play as a one-time paid app (no subscription). In the current version:

We do not receive your workout summaries or history on our servers.
If you enable StopWatch sync and connect a compatible Tabata Core StopWatch over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), the app exchanges workout information directly with that device while a session runs, for example:
This data is sent peer-to-peer over Bluetooth between your phone and watch. We do not operate StopWatch servers and do not receive this data. The watch may store its own local settings. BLE is used only for companion sync, not for location.
Sync is optional and user-initiated. When you tap Scan & pair in Settings, Android may ask for Nearby devices (Bluetooth scan and connect) permission so the app can find your watch. You can decline; the rest of Tabata Core still works without a paired watch. While a workout runs, companion timer updates may continue locally over Bluetooth when the app is in the background (for example alongside the optional workout notification)—still only between your phone and watch.
The app may read its own version and build number from the device (for example to show “v1.0.1” in Settings). This is used for display only and is not sent to us.
If you tap Share on a workout summary, the app renders a PNG image into temporary app storage and opens Android’s system share sheet. You choose the recipient app (messages, email, cloud storage, etc.). We do not receive the image or summary. Any app you share with processes data under its own privacy policy.
While you use the app, it may use the following on-device capabilities. None of these upload your workout data to us:
The app requests only permissions needed for the features above, for example:
The app does not request access to your contacts, photo gallery, precise location, microphone, or camera for its core features.
Google Play Data safety: workout and settings data stay on your device; the paired watch identifier is stored locally for reconnect and is not shared with us or third parties. Bluetooth sync does not send workout data to developer servers.
In the current version of Tabata Core we do not:
Google Play or your device manufacturer may process limited technical or diagnostic data when you install or update apps; that processing is governed by their policies, not this document.
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process on-device information only to provide and operate the app you request (timer, settings, optional notifications and related features). We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or direct marketing.
Our legal bases are typically performance of a contract (providing the app you download) and legitimate interests (operating and improving a secure local timer), balanced against your rights. Where processing depends on your choices (for example enabling notifications, StopWatch sync, granting Nearby devices permission, or Share), it is based on your consent through those system or in-app choices.
Information stored by the app remains on your device until you:
Temporary files created for Share may remain in cache until the system clears them. We do not retain copies on our servers because we do not receive that data.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of personal data, and to data portability, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Because we do not hold your workout data on our servers, most requests can be fulfilled by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage. For any other request, contact us at the email above. We will respond within the time required by applicable law (typically one month under GDPR).
If you are in the EU, you may also contact your local data protection authority. A list of EU authorities is available from the European Data Protection Board.
On Google Play, Tabata Core is listed for users aged 13 and over (target age groups: 13–15, 16–17, and 18+). The app is a general fitness timer and is not directed at children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has contacted us with personal data, email us and we will take appropriate steps.
Users aged 13–17 should use the app with a parent or guardian’s permission where required by local law.
If you download the app outside your home country, your device and Google Play may still apply local settings. We do not operate a Tabata Core account system and do not receive your settings on our servers in the current version.
Tabata Core is a one-time paid app on Google Play. You pay once to buy the app; there is no subscription and no recurring fee to use the timer. Google processes payment and any applicable tax. We do not receive your payment card, bank account, or billing address. Purchase and refund eligibility are handled under Google’s privacy policy and Google Play’s terms.
We design the app to keep workout data on your device. No method of electronic storage is completely secure; you are responsible for securing your device (screen lock, updates, and careful use of Share).
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be posted on this page and, where required, reflected in the Google Play store listing and Data safety information.
If we introduce features that collect or transmit personal data (for example cloud sync or analytics), we will update this policy before or when those features become available.
